We have some sad stories to tell…
We've recently had a number of clients lose their data due to deleted folders, stolen computers, viruses and corruptions. Make sure your data is safely secured using cloud backups.
1. We had one client who opening their payroll only to find out that the data wasn't there. It had been deleted and wasn't in the recycle bin. The last backup was weeks ago and they had to spend many hours re-entering everything.
2. We had another client who had their laptop stolen. They had only backed up their data on the laptop and on a USB stick which was in the stolen laptop bag. All their accounting data was lost.
3. We had a client who had been backing up all their data to OneDrive but we found a virus in their data. Unfortunately the data had the the virus for over 30 days and was therefore not recoverable via OneDrive (which only has a 30 day retention period).
And then we have a good story to tell.
* We had a client where their harddrive failed and the data on it was not recoverable. Thankfully they had been using the cloud backup system we supply and their data was recovered within a few minutes onto their new drive.
Don't fall into the trap of clients 1, 2 and 3. Make sure your data is properly backed up - not on a USB, external drive, OneDrive / Dropbox / Google Drive. Use a proper cloud backup system with a long retention system.
